I doubt any company, including Nissan, is up front with their customers about the acquisition of parts in their new cars. Toyota and Ford can't be the only ones trying to add to profit/cutting costs by getting lower quality parts from China.Sooner or later consumers have to realize that China has no problem providing sub-par products that can kill people simply because people wil compromise their safety for a cheap price. I think Toyota is being a up front as they can with their customers and trying to fix the cars as quickly as they can but only because they got caught with their hand in the proverbial cookie jar of seeking lower prices over quality..

What does China have to do with this?Toyota's throttle bodies were produced by CTS, based out of Indiana. IMO people just need to calm down and look at the statistics. Millions of vehicles outfitted with CTS pedal. A dozen accidents, non-fatal. The design is such that excessive friction (i.e. cold day) may slow the return, particularly if the user steps on full throttle. So if you're really worried, look by the throttle body, if it isn't a CTS pedal, you're fine. Even if it is a CTS pedal, you're going to be OK, just wait until the recall.

If that's true, then I stand corrected. A local news station out here reported that some of the parts involved were actually manufactured in China and then shipped out and assembled elsewhere.

Unfortunate event, but this could happen to any manufacturer.

Hype and "buy American" . . . and poor PR by Toyota [should have said "we are aware of this minor problem affecting a few cars and are looking into it" instead of "PANIC!!!"

I see Buick and GMC are offering a deal to help you out of your lease or help you with a down payment to trade your Toyota or Lexus in for one of their vehicles.

Not trying to freak you out but my girlfriend's xA has gone nuts three or four times. It only happens when she's driving on the interstate and using the cruise control, all of a sudden the pedal just goes down to the floor. She has taken it to be fixed twice and they couldn't find anything so she stopped using the cruise. Scary stuff. What's even more scary is this car is NOT on the recall list. I'm normally not a conspiracy theorist, but I think there's a lot more things going on that Toyota is covering up.

Toyota is a victim of it's own success, and greed..Some of my friends have been long time Toyota owners, most have commented that the modern build quality has suffered greatly compared with past years..In the rush to become "The World's Largest Automaker", quality no longer appears to be the first priority to that vaunted nameplate...Production numbers and the bottom line became the first priorities, and today you now see the results...
Cars I've owned...1980 to 1984'--72 Datsun 510 SW (Mods.2.0 motor, 5 speed trans, slot mags ) 1984 to 1990 --84 Dodge Colt Turbo GTS (added Alpine sound system) 1990 to 1999 -- 89 Mitsubishi Mirage Turbo (no mods) 1999 to 2008 -- 1996 Volvo 850 GT (Cold Air Intake added) 2008 to Present --2008 Nissan Versa 1.8S Sedan (no mods yet) I am presently incarcerated, imprisoned for a crime I did not even commit. "Attempted murder," now honestly, did they ever give anyone a Nobel prize for "attempted chemistry?"
