i thought i had a problem that sounds exactly like you are describing. i figured out this summer that it is the air conditioning clicking on and off, it will do it about 90% of the time when i push the a/c button (on or off).

It can't be the AC. I am not running it at the time. Thanks for the suggestions though. I just can't believe something this major could be happening to a brand new car. Would replacing something like this compromise the integrity of the car? In other words, is it making the value go down OR could replacing this make other things start to degrade faster since the car (well part of it at least) has to be taken apart?

If it were, would the clicking slow down when the car slows down? I can hear the clicking slow to a stop while the car slows to a stop. I can make out about 2 clicks per tire revolution.

Look for stones stuck in the tires.. the OEM tires are the WORST for picking up small stones and you hear them. Drives me insane.

I had the same thing which got louder and louder. It turned out the Torque bolt was loose.I do not remember the exact name of the the nut you have to tighten, Torque something it is near the struts bolts.

Does your car have hub caps/ wheel covers? could be the noise, if what your hearing is not very loud, I've heard this on a variety of vehicles, usually due to the position of a wheel weight. Just a thought.

Well, I took it in this morning. Apparently the cotter pin holding the bearings in (what the service guy at the dealer said) came loose and he tightened it and the noise went away. Haven't picked it up yet, but I'll see if it's really gone. Thanks for all you suggestions!I'm just glad it wasn't something more serious.

I just had the same sort of issue at 4,800 miles. The dealer replaced both strut bearings and the left strut assembly.

I am new to your site -- with same issue. My 2007 Versa (manuft'd 2006) first generation was making a pratt-l-e sound when I cranked the wheel right or left, although much louder when cranked right. Started around 20,000kms and now I have 42,500kms. Turns out to be the struts and my invoice says REPLACE RF AXLE, USE HEAT TO UNSIEZE LOWER CONTROL ARM. Then it states SHAFT (but nothing for parts or labour) and then LUBRICATE WHEEL ASSY ON LF.When I questioned the Service Tech, he agreed that both Right and Left have to be done (I was in on a previous appointment to diagnose and booked this appointment with the understanding that both were being done). The Tech said that he was booking them under seperate appointments because otherwise Nissan would give him a hard time if both were shown at the same time because this is supposedly highly unusual. Judging by all that I read here on this one thing, what else is suspect? For example, previously when discussing problem and possible diagnosis, Tech asked me if I could also feel a vibration in through the steering wheel or whether I "felt the sound" coming moreso from the under the vehicle?? At that point he mentioned possibly the LOWER STEERING SHAFT?? which he claimed was often seen?? As well, the Tech asked me if my vehicle had been in an accident or had been submerged!? OK - good questions but NO is the answer on both ... but submerged?? What is this about? So, that's my 2 cents worth ... but would like to know -- are there more parts involved to worry about with respect to REPLACE RF AXLE, or does it mean that all of the parts ie - bearings, strut plates, strut mounts ... are comprised when one REPLACES THE AXLE?? Also, other postings talk about the poor positioning of the strut plates being such that they catch the windshield water run-off and apparently lead to premature rusting ... Should I be asking for an inspection on that too? They seem to be genuinely trying to look out for the right solutions because they also know that the warranty runs out on Feb. 27 -- so my return next week will be the last chance that I have to have problems revealed or at least documented on their system for my vehicle to allow for the possibility of a valid claim if whatever items I ask about and get documented come up soon after with problems. Sorry for the whole enchilada in one stop but with the warranty about to run out I could use some guidance ... Thanks - MEXCHICK
